ANNOUNCEMENT: Appointment to the Board of Coventry Biennial Limited
I'm honoured to have joined the Board and become a Trustee of a force in Contemporary Arts in the West Midlands!

Saturday May 17th 2025
I am incredibly delighted to announce my appointment as a Member of the Board
and
Trustee of Coventry Biennial Ltd - a social, political and critical platform for contemporary art across the City of Coventry and throughout Warwickshire.
Coventry Biennial was founded in 2017, as an artist-led, strategic response to the city publishing a 10 year cultural strategy and what turned out to be the successful bid to become UK City of Culture 2021.
Coventry Biennial runs activity which aims to:
- CONNECT people, groups & places in unique & meaningful ways, increasing engagement with contemporary art & the unique context of the local area.
- MAKE work with artists & communities that is ambitious, innovative & high quality, building on the city’s craft & manufacturing heritage.
- DEVELOP the local sector & scene to grow, becoming more diverse, dynamic & sustainable, learning from the city’s art history while fostering new talent & initiatives.
Through regular content with artists, as well as the renowned Coventry Biennial Festival, the organisation works with artists to respond to the city’s complex history, geography, built environment & relationships, retaining an outward-looking perspective, ensuring that our work has broader appeal, significance & impact.
On top, Coventry Biennial’s programmes occupy local museums, galleries & studios, but distinctively, also make innovative use of disused, high street and non-art spaces as a way to reach new audiences & increase relevance.
As someone who has come to appreciate the incredible influence which Arts, Culture and Heritage organisations plays in society over the last several years, I am truly honoured to have joined the Board and become a Trustee, of which aligns to my values of opening opportunities (particularly to young people), growing accessibility (particularly for disabled audiences) and helping to showcase the power which people, places and communities have, to make such a positive difference.
And being a West Midlander, contributing to my region and helping to unleash even more of its incredible creativity, through one of the UK’s biggest and most diverse art festivals, is an opportunity I feel very excited and humbled about.
I much look forward to working with the team, led by Board Chair Paula Orrell and Chief Executive Officer Ryan Hughes and I give my wholehearted thanks to them and the Board for allowing me to become part of an outstanding set of individuals, in helping to steer forward the organisation and its richly important work.
You can find out more about Coventry Biennial at https://www.coventrybiennial.com, including updates on programming for Biennial 2025 which will come in due course.
Here is to helping showcase the platform of contemporary art in such a powerful way throughout my region!
ENDS.
